TSU CLINCHES OVC MBB REGULAR SEASON TITLE FOR 1ST TIME SINCE 1995
As the clock ran down to zero, the scene was one of joy and triumph for Tennessee State fans who traveled to Martin, Tennessee, to see their team end a 30-year drought. On Saturday afternoon, the Tennessee State Tigers (21-9) defeated UT Martin on the road, becoming OVC Men’s Basketball Co-Regular Season Champions for the first time since 1995. They dominated the Skyhawks on national TV, 67-42. TSU secured the top seed in the upcoming OVC Men’s Basketball Tournament, holding the tiebreaker over Co-Regular Season Champion Morehead State. The Tigers are reaching historic heights under first-year head coach Nolan Smith. This TSU team currently holds the record for the most OVC wins in program history with a 15-5 record. As the No. 1 seed, the Tigers will be back in action on March 6th in Evansville, Indiana, for the OVC Semifinals at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
