By Jonathan Dobbins

Rice defensive back Tre'Shon Devones has officially entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer, according to a report by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. Devones had a spectacular season with the Owls in 2023, where he recorded 45 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and 2 interceptions.

Devones joined the Owls in 2019 as a walk-on from Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas. He earned a scholarship during his true freshman year at training camp, as reported by Rice Athletics. Later on, he started in four games as a true freshman.

Devones suffered injuries in the latter part of the 2020 season and missed the entire 2021 season. However, he made a comeback in 2022 and was the highest-graded Rice defensive starter by PFF with a score of 77.1 in 2023.

In total, Devones finished his Rice career with 75 tackles, 14 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery.
