MIKAYLA BLAKES CONTINUES TO MAKE HISTORY

There’s no limit on greatness when it comes to the journey of Mikayla Blakes. She has made a significant impact on the basketball world in a remarkably short time. It was just last year (Jan 2024) when she made her announcement to commit to Vanderbilt over UCLA, Stanford, and Tennessee, as a 5-star prospect out of New Jersey. Becoming the highest ranked recruit in Commodore WBB history. Then she proceeded to have a sensational freshman year, shattering multiple NCAA freshman records, with two 50+ point games (53 vs Florida & 55 vs Auburn), winning the 2025 Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Year, and finished the season leading Division 1 freshman in scoring, averaging 23.3 points per game. Now in July of 2025, in the middle of the offseason, and she’s still making history. Mikayla was named the MVP of the FIBA AmeriCup, after scoring 27 points in Team USA’s championship win over Brazil, and averaging 14 points per game throughout the entire tournament. Mikayla Blakes is another sign that college women’s basketball is in great hands for next upcoming years.
